Avviso Seminari Dottorato

Recent advances on evaporation modelling at high pressure and temperature conditions
Abstract: This lecture first provides a short overview of classical approaches to the modelling of droplet evaporation for engine applications, such as the Abrazon and Sirignano model and other similar approaches based on the analogy between mass and heat transfer. In the process, the major limitations of classical approaches will be highlighted. As a second step, more advanced evaporation models will be discussed by highlighting the implications on the predicted droplet evolution, its possible transition to a supercritical state and the models’ accuracy.

Temperature and Concentration Measurements in High-Pressure, High Enthalpy Flows with Laser Induced Thermo Acoustic (LITA)
Abstract: This lecture provides an introduction on a specific application of a wave mixing technique, namely Laser Induced Thermo Acoustic. This advanced, non-linear spectroscopic technique provides an interesting alternative to spontaneous Raman scattering or CARS for quantitative measurements in high-pressure and high-enthalpy flows. The theoretical background of the technique, a number of successful applications as well as current developments are presented and its advantages and disadvantages thoroughly discussed.
